How to use Mind Map Builder
- Enter one id | parent | label row per node, leaving the root parent empty.
- Build the map and resolve any duplicate IDs, missing parents or cycles.
- Review the outline and export the SVG or JSON.
Example: Mind Map Builder
Create a small project tree with two branches.
Options
- Mind-map nodes
- One “id | parent id | label” per line. Use “-” or a blank parent for the single root. Up to 100 nodes, 8 levels including the root, 40-character IDs, 200-code-point labels and 100,000 input characters.
Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
Identifiers connect the tree
An ID names a node for references; its label is the text shown in the map. Child rows name a parent ID, so changing a label does not require changing every reference. Use one root with a blank or hyphen parent. Duplicate IDs, missing parents and cycles cannot form the supported tree and are refused.
Keep the map legible as it grows
Long labels and many branches need more space than a small outline. The bounded layout is a generated tree, not a free-form diagram editor. Use the JSON as a record of the entered relationships and inspect the visual export at its intended size. The tool does not infer missing connections or save the map automatically.
Questions about Mind Map Builder
What does the parent column mean?
Enter the ID of the node above this one. Leave it empty only for the single root node.
Why is a cycle refused?
A tree cannot contain a node that eventually becomes its own parent. Check the reported IDs and correct their parent relationships.
Can I reopen the map later?
Keep the exported JSON or original rows. The current page does not automatically persist your map.
