How to use Extract PDF Pages
- Add one PDF in the PDF file field.
- Choose the split mode One PDF per range I type, which is where this page opens.
- Type the pages you want in Page ranges, for example 4-6 or 1-3, 5, 8-10.
- Select Extract, then download the new PDF. One range gives one file; several ranges come back as a ZIP.
Example: Extract PDF Pages
A twelve-page quarterly report where only the results section is needed.
Options
- Split mode
- One PDF per page makes a file for every page, and One PDF per range I type makes a file for each range. This page opens on the range mode, because extracting means naming the pages you want, and the other mode stays one click away.
- Page ranges
- Commas, semicolons and line breaks separate entries, and a dash or the word to joins two page numbers, so 4-6 means pages 4, 5 and 6. Entries are written out in the order you type them.
- Part name
- Optional. Leave it empty to keep the source name with the pages appended, such as Quarterly report-pages-4-6.pdf, or type a name to replace the source name.

What a part keeps, and what stays behind
A PDF stores what is drawn on each page separately from the details that describe the file as a whole. An extraction copies the drawn content of the chosen pages into a fresh document, so their text and images survive at their original quality. The document-level parts do not come along: a bookmark that pointed at a page number, an embedded attachment, a form field definition and a digital signature all belong to the original file. That is why a signed contract comes back unsigned even when the pages look identical, and why the result text names the form fields, XFA data or signatures it found before the split.
Questions about Extract PDF Pages
How is this different from splitting a PDF?
Splitting usually means one file per page. Here you name the pages you want, so a single range such as 4-6 returns one PDF holding three pages and nothing else.
Can I take a single page out of the middle?
Yes. Enter that number on its own, for example 7. The result is a one-page PDF, and the source file is left untouched on your device.
Do the extracted pages keep their text and images?
Yes. The pages are copied into a new document rather than drawn again, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality and color.
Why was a range refused?
The usual reasons are a page number beyond the end of the document, a range written the wrong way round such as 6-4, or a page entered as 0. Pages in a PDF start at 1.
Can one new PDF hold pages from several places in the document?
Not by listing separate ranges, because each range becomes its own file. Type one range that spans them, or open the page organizer, remove the rows you do not want and build a single PDF from what is left.
