Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool uploads your DOCX to a restricted server converter. The download belongs to this browser session and expires within one hour. Temporary job files may remain until the cleanup task runs.
Why this tool uses a document converter
A .docx file is a ZIP of XML parts. It describes text, styles, images and the relationships between them, but it does not store where each line lands on the page. Producing a PDF means running a text layout engine that knows the metrics of every font, decides the line breaks and the page breaks, and then writes a fresh page description. The other PDF tools here can work in the browser because their input is already laid out: pages, pixels or plain text. Laying out a word processor document faithfully needs the fonts and a full text engine, so this tool sends the document to a converter instead.
Questions about Word to PDF
Why did the converter reject my document?
The service turns down files it cannot lay out safely, such as password-protected, macro-enabled and embedded-object documents. Open the file in Word or LibreOffice Writer, save a clean copy without macros or protection, then convert that.
Why does my page break differ from Word?
The layout engine is LibreOffice rather than Word, and a font that is not installed is substituted with one that has different widths. Lines get slightly longer or shorter, which can push a heading onto the next page.
How long do I have to download the result?
The link expires within an hour of submission, and the converter deletes the uploaded document after processing. Keep the page open and download the PDF when it appears.
Does closing the tab leave a job running on the server?
Cancelling in the page cancels the server-side job rather than abandoning it, and a job that is never collected expires on its own. Either way the document does not sit in the queue.
