  2. Add one line item per line as Description | quantity | unit price.

Example: Invoice and Receipt Maker

Create a one-page invoice for three hours of design work with 10 percent tax.

You add
Document type: invoice. Currency: USD. Seller name: Northwind Studio. Seller details: 14 Harbour Road, Bristol. Client name: Acme Ltd. Client details: 2 Market Street, Leeds. Document number: INV-1042. Issue date: 2026-09-01. Due date: 2026-09-15. Line items: Design work | 3 | 120.00. Tax rate: 10. Discount: 0. Notes: empty. Payment terms: Pay within 14 days. Legal and footer text: empty.
You get
The result reports 1 page and a total of USD 396.00, and downloads invoice-INV-1042.pdf. The totals table shows Design work at 3 by USD 120.00 for USD 360.00, a subtotal of USD 360.00, tax of USD 36.00 and a grand total of USD 396.00, and the PDF carries those same figures.

Supported inputs and limits

Up to 200 line items and 20,000 characters of item text per document. Quantities take up to three decimal places and prices up to two. The tax rate runs from 0 to 100 percent, and an optional fixed discount comes off before tax. Every amount is rounded half up to two decimals, and the printed totals equal the sum of the printed line amounts. The seller and client names are limited to 80 characters and the document number to 40; a header line that still runs past the space beside the title word is cut with an ellipsis instead of overlapping it. Each details box takes up to 600 characters, notes up to 2,000 and the footer text up to 1,200. The PDF uses the standard Helvetica fonts, so a field holding a character those fonts cannot draw is refused by name. This page is a document aid, not tax or legal advice: it does not look up a tax number, an address or any legal wording, and all of those come from you.

Why the table and the printed totals agree

Money is a place where a small rounding difference looks like an error on a real document, so the rounded line amount feeds both the PDF and the totals table. Each line is quantity times unit price, rounded half up to two decimals. The subtotal adds those rounded amounts rather than the unrounded ones, the discount comes off the subtotal, and tax is calculated on the discounted figure. Someone checking the bill can add the line amounts in front of them and reach the printed subtotal, which is exactly the check a client will make.

Questions about Invoice and Receipt Maker

Can I use this for a receipt as well as an invoice?

Yes. Choose Receipt and the heading, the labels and the printed dates change. The due date line and the payment terms are left out, because a receipt is usually handed over after the money has changed hands.

Does the tool fill in a tax number or an address?

No. Your details, the client details, the document number and any legal wording are printed exactly as you type them. A field you leave empty simply does not appear in the document.

How is the total worked out?

Each line amount is quantity times unit price, rounded half up to two decimals. The discount comes off the subtotal, the tax rate applies to what is left, and the totals block prints each of those steps in order.

Is anything uploaded when I create the document?

No. The figures stay in this browser tab, the totals are worked out on your device, and the PDF is written there too. Reloading the page clears the form.
