Choose a separator that belongs to the data
A tab or pipe often separates pasted records more clearly than a space, which may also appear inside a name. Use a consistent delimiter for every row. Long fields determine the padding width, so shortening an unusually long entry can make the whole table easier to read.
Questions about Column Aligner for Text
Why do columns move in a proportional font?
Spaces and letters have different widths in that font. Plain-text padding is intended for monospaced editors; it does not make a styled HTML table.
Does a delimiter inside quotes count as a separator?
Yes. This page splits at every selected separator; quotation marks do not group fields. Use the CSV tools for data that needs quoted CSV parsing.
Do emoji and wide letters align exactly?
The width rule is stated in the limits. A character count does not guarantee terminal display width for emoji, combining marks or East Asian text.
Can rows contain empty columns?
Keep the separators around an empty value. Review the result to confirm the following fields remain in their intended columns.
