How to use Hard Wrap Text
- Paste plain text with blank lines between paragraphs.
- Choose the width and whether long words may split.
- Wrap the text and inspect the paragraph and word boundaries.
Example: Hard Wrap Text
Hard Wrap Text: Wrapped paragraphs to 40 code points per line, leaving longer words intact. Line endings were normalized to LF; repeated spaces within paragraphs were reduced to one space and blank lines were kept.
Options
- Line width
- The width counts Unicode code points rather than visual terminal cells or whole grapheme clusters.
- Long words
- Leave splitting off to preserve an uninterrupted long word, even when that line exceeds the chosen width.

Hard wrapping changes the text itself
The result contains inserted line breaks, unlike visual wrapping in an editor. Existing single line breaks within a paragraph may be joined, repeated spaces are reduced and output uses LF endings. Inspect structured text carefully before replacing a version whose original line boundaries mattered.
Questions about Hard Wrap Text
Is this the same as my editor wrapping a line?
An editor can wrap visually without changing the file. This tool inserts actual line breaks in the returned text.
What happens to a long URL?
With splitting off, a word or URL longer than the width remains whole. Splitting on can insert breaks inside it, which may stop it working as a link.
Will emoji occupy one column?
Widths count Unicode code points. A visible emoji can contain several code points or occupy more than one display cell.
