How to use Word Finder and Unscrambler

  2. Choose exact anagram, rack or pattern mode and the result limit.
  3. Review the listed spellings against the rules of your task.

Supported inputs and limits

Bundled CMUdict US pronunciation vocabulary, pinned to 74790861f652b15e4ac49015a90074ad62a27690; errors, omissions, names, abbreviations and sensitive terms may remain. No network lookup, spelling certification, word-game certification or pronunciation audio. The local dictionary loads only on Run; 124,926 spellings and 133,971 retained readings. Racks use 1–20 ASCII letters. Patterns use 1–30 ASCII letters/apostrophes/?/* with at most two stars. ? matches one character; * matches zero or more. Minimum length 1–20; output 1–100 results. Rack/exact modes exclude apostrophe spellings; repeated letters cannot be reused. Scan up to 140,000 entries, with progress/cancellation and a 20-second deadline. Output is alphabetical, not popularity-ranked. No blank rack tiles, word scores, definitions, game-list approval or arbitrary Unicode spelling.

Questions about Word Finder and Unscrambler

Are all results allowed in a word game?

No. Game dictionaries have their own rules; CMU is a pronunciation vocabulary.

Can a letter be used more often than I entered it?

Rack matching accounts for repeated letters. Blank rack tiles are not supported.

Why is a known word missing?

The pinned vocabulary has omissions, spelling variants and a US English pronunciation focus.
