WebP images only, up to 20 in one run. Every WebP is converted to the same format.

    PNG output ignores this setting.

JPEG cannot store transparency, so transparent pixels use this color. Use a hex value such as #ffffff.

How to use WebP to JPG

    1. Add the WebP files you saved from a site or received in a message, up to 20 at a time.
    2. Leave Convert to on JPEG, which is where this page opens, and set the color that fills any transparent areas.
    3. Select Convert, then download the JPG files, or the ZIP when you converted several.

    Example: WebP to JPG

A WebP hero image downloaded from a website that will not open in a desktop photo editor.

    You add
hero.webp, 1600 by 900 pixels with transparent edges. Convert to JPEG, background #ffffff, quality 0.9.
    You get
hero.jpg at 1600 by 900 pixels with the transparent edges filled white, reported with the WebP size and the JPG size. Open it in the editor that refused the WebP.

    Options

    Convert to
The page opens on JPEG because the usual problem is a file another program refuses. The list still offers PNG and WebP when a different target is genuinely needed.
    Background for JPEG
JPEG has no alpha channel, so every transparent pixel is painted with this hex color before encoding. White suits a white page.
    Quality for JPEG and WebP
0.9 keeps most of the detail. Lower values shrink the file further and soften text and thin lines first.

    Supported inputs and limits

Input formatWebP files only; JPEG or PNG is refused
Batch sizeUp to 20 images per run
Per image12 MiB each, 40 megapixels each, 20 MiB total
This page is for WebP images that another program will not open, print or accept. It accepts WebP files only: a JPEG or PNG is refused with a message instead of being converted, and the file picker offers WebP files on its own. A run accepts up to 20 images, 12 MiB each, 20 MiB in total and 40 megapixels per image. A JPG holds one still picture, so an animated WebP cannot keep its motion and the download is a single frame. Transparent pixels take the background color you choose, and the JPG that comes out is lossy, so keep the quality high for screenshots and graphics with fine text.

Why sites serve WebP in the first place

WebP was designed for the web: every current browser reads it and a site can send a smaller file than a comparable JPG or PNG. That works inside the browser, but the file saved to your disk is still WebP, and the program that has to open it may never have heard of the format. Converting to JPG is about being readable outside the browser, so the goal is an ordinary file rather than a smaller one.

    Questions about WebP to JPG

Why will my computer not open the WebP file?

Some desktop editors, office suites and print workflows still do not read WebP. JPG is accepted almost everywhere, so converting is often quicker than waiting for that program to add support.

My WebP is animated. Can it be converted?

It converts, but only as one still picture, because a JPG cannot hold a sequence of frames or the timing between them. If a particular frame is what you need, export that frame from a program that can step through the animation, then convert the still image here.

What happens to the transparent areas?

They are painted with the background color you enter, white by default, because JPG cannot store an alpha channel. Pick the color of the page or the product the image will sit on.

Which quality setting suits a WebP screenshot?

0.9 or higher. Screenshots carry small text and sharp edges, and those are what a low JPG quality softens first. Compare the download before you delete the WebP.

Can I add a JPEG or PNG to this page?

No. Only WebP input is accepted here, and any other format is refused with a message rather than quietly converted. Use the Image Format Converter when the file is already a JPEG or PNG.
