How to use PDF Attachment Manager
- Choose one supported PDF and inspect its embedded files.
- Select Extract for stored files, or Add and choose the new files.
- Review the downloaded files or the attachments panel of the PDF copy before sharing.
Example: PDF Attachment Manager
Recover a short text attachment.
Options
- Attachment action
- Inspect lists embedded names and actual decoded sizes. Extract downloads those stored bytes. Add writes a PDF copy containing the files selected in Files to add.
- Files to add
- This field is used only for Add. Names must be distinct from existing attachment names, including differences only in letter case. The combined limit includes attachments already inside the PDF.
Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
An attachment is separate from a page
An embedded file does not become a visible page. A PDF viewer may expose it through an attachments panel, while the page image remains unchanged. Inspect before extracting and compare the extracted filename and bytes with the intended file. This tool does not execute attachments or establish that they are safe to open.
Some attachment containers are refused
The supported stream filters and simple filenames are checked before extraction or copying. A refused attachment can require the application that created the PDF. Keep the original: writing a new copy may invalidate digital signatures and does not remove sensitive content from the original.
Questions about PDF Attachment Manager
Are extracted files opened?
No. The page offers downloads; review the file type before opening it elsewhere.
Can this inspect every PDF attachment structure?
No. Supported document-level embedded files are handled; unsupported filters and structures produce a useful refusal.
Does adding a file preserve a digital signature?
Changing a signed PDF can invalidate its signature. Retain the original.
