Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
Leave room for the stamp
A page's visible crop and rotation affect where its top and bottom appear. Positioning uses that visible box, but the page's printed content still determines whether a stamp overlaps anything. Text may be reduced to fit the available width; long labels or narrow pages can be refused.
Questions about Add Header and Footer to PDF
Does a new footer replace existing printed text?
The stamp is drawn above the existing page content. It does not erase an earlier footer, so choose an inset that leaves both readable.
Where does the date come from?
The {date} placeholder uses the date you enter. A supplied date keeps the printed wording independent of the device's current clock.
What does {pages} count?
It represents the PDF's page count. The tool is stamping the current document, so check numbering again if you later add or remove pages.
Will the original PDF signature still verify?
Adding page content changes the document and can invalidate its digital signatures. Review the modified copy separately from the signed original.
