One browser-decodable MP4/MOV-family or WebM video. Up to 256 MiB, 60 minutes, 8.3 megapixels, one video track and at most one audio track. The full clip must be no more than 10 minutes.

How to use Video Resize and Crop

    1. Choose a short supported video and enter the output width and height.
    2. Select whole-frame fitting or centre cropping and choose a border colour if margins are expected.
    3. Record the result and inspect edges, captions and dimensions in the downloaded WebM.

    Example: Video Resize and Crop

Fit a landscape clip into a square while keeping every edge.

    You add
Source: a two-second 640 × 360 video. Output width: 320; height: 320; fit: Keep the whole frame; border colour: #000000.
    You get
The WebM is 320 × 320. The video content occupies 320 × 180 with black margins above and below rather than being stretched into a square.

    Options

    Output width (pixels)
This is the encoded output rectangle width, not a CSS display width. It is checked alongside height and total pixels.
    Output height (pixels)
Height combines with width to set output shape. Keeping the source aspect ratio is controlled by the fit rule, not guessed from these numbers.
    Fit within the output
Whole-frame fitting adds margins where needed. Centre cropping fills the rectangle by removing content from the source edges.

    Supported inputs and limits

Contain keeps the whole frame with borders; cover crops the center to fill the chosen dimensions. Use a browser-decodable MP4/MOV-family or WebM with one video track and at most one audio track. Total selected input: 256 MiB; source frames: 8,294,400 pixels (4K). Sources may be up to 60 minutes, but whole-clip jobs require a clip of 10 minutes or less. Selected or combined output: up to 10 minutes and 128 MiB, 2,073,600 pixels (1080p) and 1,920 pixels per side. Recording runs in real time and the page must stay visible. WebM export re-encodes the media, so quality, frame timing and sound timing depend on the browser and device. Metadata, subtitles and extra tracks are not preserved. Seek cues are not built; check playback before using the file. Larger jobs need more device memory.

A rectangle and a fit rule define the composition

Contain preserves the whole source aspect ratio and fills unused space with the chosen colour. Cover enlarges until the output is filled and crops the centre. Neither offers a movable crop anchor. Important edge text or faces can be lost in Cover, so review the actual frames after export.

Pixel bounds apply to the whole rectangle

Both dimensions and their product must fit the output limits. A long narrow size can pass one dimension check but still fail another bound. The output is re-recorded WebM rather than the same source codec in a new size. Browser quality and timing influence the result; resizing does not preserve all original metadata.

Questions about Video Resize and Crop

Which part of the frame is cropped?

The crop option uses the center of the source frame; it is not a face-tracking crop.

Does a smaller frame always mean a smaller file?

No. The codec and recording bitrate also affect file size.

Will the source resolution be preserved?

Only if it fits the allowed output dimensions; the download uses your selected canvas size.
