How to use Random Number Generator
- Set the smallest and largest whole numbers you want in the range.
- Choose how many numbers to draw.
- Turn on No repeated numbers when every value in the result has to be different.
- Set the order, then select Generate numbers and copy the list.
Example: Random Number Generator
Draw six different numbers from a range of one to one hundred.
Options
- Range
- Both endpoints count, so a range of 1 to 100 can produce 1 and 100. Whole numbers only: a decimal, letter or symbol is refused with a message instead of being rounded.
- No repeated numbers
- Turns the draw into a set of different values. When the range holds fewer whole numbers than you asked for, the request is refused and the message names the largest count that fits.
- Order
- As drawn keeps the sequence the generator produced. Smallest first and largest first sort those same values afterwards, so sorting never changes which numbers were drawn.
Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
How the numbers are drawn
Every value comes from crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's secure random source. A range rarely divides the 4,294,967,296 possible 32-bit values exactly, and taking a remainder would make the low numbers slightly likelier than the rest. The tool instead throws away the values above the last complete block and draws again, so each number in your range has the same chance before the result is printed.
What this tool leaves out
There is no seed box, because reproducible output from a short seed needs a weaker generator than the one the browser already provides. There is no replay either: a second run draws again from scratch. That keeps the promise simple, which is why the result panel asks you to copy a list you intend to keep.
Questions about Random Number Generator
Can I use this for a giveaway or a prize draw?
The draw comes from the browser's secure random source and discards the values that would bias it, so the numbers are picked evenly. Even so, nothing here is audited, witnessed or certified by a third party. For a draw that has to stand up to questions, keep the result, record how it was made, and agree the process with the people taking part before it runs.
Why did the same number appear twice?
Repeats are allowed by default and every draw is independent, so a value can come up more than once inside one run. Turn on No repeated numbers when each value in the result has to be different.
Can I draw decimal numbers?
No. The tool draws whole numbers, and 1.5 is refused rather than rounded, so the range stays exactly what you typed. Multiply the range by ten or a hundred and divide the result yourself if you need one decimal place.
Will I get the same numbers again if I reload?
No. Each run draws fresh values and nothing is seeded or remembered between visits. Copy or download the list before you leave the page if the numbers matter.
