How to use PDF Text Table to XLSX
- Choose a supported PDF page with horizontal stored text.
- Set the page number and column boundary positions in points.
- Reopen the XLSX and compare every extracted row with the source before changing cell types.
Example: PDF Text Table to XLSX
Extract a two-column stored-text table.
Options
- PDF page
- Choose the 1-based page containing the stored text table. Scanned image tables are outside this tool because it does not run OCR.
- Column boundaries
- Enter increasing x positions from the page left edge in PDF points. Each adjacent pair defines one column; text crossing a boundary is refused rather than guessed into a cell.
Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
Position grouping is not table recognition
The tool groups supported horizontal text by baseline and the supplied x boundaries. It cannot infer a complex table model from cell borders or scanned pixels. Check wrapped rows, headings and omitted text outside the boundaries against the source page.
Exported strings remain strings
The XLSX stores extracted values as text, including formula-like strings. It does not execute formulas or infer numeric/date cell types. Convert selected columns in a spreadsheet application only after checking identifiers, leading zeroes and the correct locale.
Questions about PDF Text Table to XLSX
Does it detect all table columns automatically?
No. You set the column boundaries.
Can it read a photographed table?
No. Scans and images need OCR, which is outside this tool.
Should I review the spreadsheet?
Yes. PDF text ordering and table grouping can differ from what the page looks like.
