How to use Subtitle Converter
- Paste the complete subtitle text and select its actual Input format.
- Choose Output format, then leave loss permission off for the first attempt.
- If unsupported features are reported, decide whether losing each one is acceptable before allowing the conversion.
- Download the text and check cue timing and appearance with your intended player.
Example: Subtitle Converter
Convert one plain SRT cue to WebVTT.
Options
- Subtitle source
- Plain-text SRT, WebVTT or ASS. Up to 200,000 characters, 1,000 ordered cues and 2,000 characters per cue.
- Input format
- Select the syntax of the pasted text rather than the extension you want to download. SRT and WebVTT use milliseconds; ASS stores centiseconds.
- Output format
- The output changes text syntax and timestamp punctuation. ASS timing rounds to hundredths of a second, so a millisecond boundary may move.
- Allow unsupported features to be discarded and list every discard
- Keep this off to refuse unsupported rich features. Enabling it permits listed discards; it does not preserve styling, effects or WebVTT settings.

Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
Plain cues travel more reliably than styling
The common output is ordered timing and plain text. Colour, positioning, rich markup and ASS effects do not have equivalent representations in every format. Read the discard report before using an export where appearance matters. The converter does not translate the words or inspect a video to discover timing.
Fix syntax before trying a different format
A malformed cue or an unsupported timestamp can prevent parsing. Check the selected input format, blank-line cue separators and that every cue ends after it starts. Repeatedly changing the output format cannot repair an invalid source. After conversion, test the actual subtitle file with the media it belongs to.

Are all subtitle styles preserved?
No. Supported cue text is separate from format-specific styling and settings; review any refusal or disclosed loss.
Does the page render cue markup as HTML?
