How to use RSS and Atom Feed Validator

 1. Paste the full RSS or Atom XML document.
 2. Run the structural checks and read errors and warnings separately.
 3. Fix the reported structure and test the served feed in its intended reader.

Example: RSS and Atom Feed Validator

Inspect a small standalone RSS 2.0 document.

You add
Feed XML:

Example

Sample updates

You get
The report recognises RSS and inspects the supplied channel structure. It does not visit the channel URL or establish reader compatibility.

Supported inputs and limits

Pasted RSS 2.0 or Atom 1.0 only, up to 256,000 characters, 5,000 elements, 32 levels and 200 entries. DTDs and unknown entities are refused. A structural subset checks selected required fields, identifiers and supported dates/links. Extensions, optional rules, xml:base resolution and complete standards compliance are not certified. No URL fetch or HTML rendering. XML names use the supported ASCII subset; declarations must name XML 1.0 and UTF-8 when an encoding is present. Up to 32 attributes per element, 32 in-scope namespace bindings and 32,000 retained namespace entries. DTDs and custom entities are refused.

Where your input is processed

Well-formed XML is only the first check

A document can parse as XML but lack feed-specific fields or contain an invalid supported date or URL. Read the validator’s distinctions rather than assuming any parsed file is a usable subscription feed. The checker works on supplied text and cannot confirm that an article destination exists.

External entities and fetching are outside the task

No article links or external documents are retrieved to complete validation. The bounded parser refuses unsupported constructs instead of executing an XML workflow. A successful local report does not prove HTTP serving, MIME type, cache behaviour or support in every feed reader.

Questions about RSS and Atom Feed Validator

Will feed links or tracking images load?

No. Entries are shown as text and no URL is fetched.

Does an issue-free result certify the entire feed?

No. It means the supported checks found no issues; other rules and extensions remain unvalidated.

Can I enter a feed URL?

No. Paste the XML itself; this version does not download feeds.
