How to use Resistance and Conductance Converter
- Enter a nonnegative resistance or conductance.
- Choose the input and destination units.
- Convert and check whether the output is a scale change or a reciprocal.
Example: Resistance and Conductance Converter
Find conductance from resistance.
Options
- Resistance or conductance
- Ohms express resistance; siemens express conductance. Crossing between them takes a reciprocal and therefore refuses zero, while zero can remain valid within one quantity type.
- Decimal places
- Inspect the reciprocal result before choosing its display precision. Resistance and conductance can have very different magnitudes; 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 places apply to the selected output quantity.

This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
The reciprocal is more than a prefix change
A resistance of 1000 Ω gives 1/1000 S, or 1 mS. Negative values retain their algebraic sign but do not establish that a passive component has that property. The converter does not measure a circuit.
Questions about Resistance and Conductance Converter
Why does a larger resistance give smaller conductance?
Conductance is the reciprocal of resistance in the stated resistive model. In base units, G = 1/R.
Can zero ohms become siemens?
It has no finite reciprocal. The tool refuses that request rather than presenting a finite number.
Is conductance the same as conductivity?
No. Conductance describes a component or path. Conductivity describes a material property and also involves geometry.
