How to use Trip Fuel Cost Calculator
- Enter the trip distance and choose kilometres or miles.
- Enter the expected consumption in the selected unit.
- Enter the fuel price and its litre or gallon unit.
- Review estimated fuel and cost, then allow for conditions the model does not include.
Example: Trip Fuel Cost Calculator
Estimate a two-hundred-kilometre trip.
Options
- Consumption unit
- Litres per 100 km expresses fuel per distance; km/L and miles per gallon express distance per fuel. US and imperial gallons are different volumes.
- Price and currency
- Price uses the selected litre or gallon convention. Currency is only a label; no current fuel price or exchange rate is fetched.
Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
Cost follows two separate assumptions
The calculator converts trip distance and the entered fuel economy into fuel volume, then multiplies by the entered price per matching volume. At 8 L/100 km, a 200 km trip needs an estimated 16 L. At 1.50 per litre, that gives 24 in the entered currency.
A trip estimate does not capture changing conditions
Traffic, load, terrain and driving conditions can change actual use. The page does not choose a consumption value or add parking, tolls or other travel costs. Keep those costs separate and compare the estimate with actual receipts when available.
Questions about Trip Fuel Cost Calculator
Does this look up local fuel prices?
No. Enter the price you want to model and label its unit. The currency label does not convert money.
Why does the result change between US and imperial mpg?
Those gallons have different volumes. Choose the system used by your consumption figure.
How much reserve fuel should I add?
The tool does not choose a reserve. Plan separately for detours, delays and conditions beyond the entered consumption estimate.
