Put receipt photos into a PDF only after checking that the store name, date, items and total are readable. Arrange the images by purchase date, keep the shots of each long receipt together, then use Images to PDF to create one file.

The result contains pictures of the receipts, without OCR or a searchable text layer. If you also need a searchable list of purchases, record the dates and amounts separately rather than relying on image-only pages.

Start with readable photographs

Keep the camera parallel to the paper, use even light and include all the information the recipient needs. Photograph faint receipts while you can still read them. For a long receipt, take overlapping shots and keep their sequence clear.

Open each photo before editing it. A crop can remove an unwanted tabletop, but it cannot recover a missing digit or straighten a receipt photographed in perspective. Retaking an unclear shot is often more useful than processing it repeatedly.

Crop or rotate only when needed

Image Cropper accepts one JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 64 MiB and 40 megapixels. It has quarter-turn rotation, so you can turn a sideways receipt before placing the crop box. Coordinates refer to the turned image and start at zero in its top-left corner.

Leave a little space around the paper. Check the last digit in the total, the transaction date and any information on the back. Drag the crop box or enter coordinates; a typed crop outside the image is refused. The cropper does not correct keystone distortion or irregular paper shapes.

For a small tilt rather than a quarter turn, Rotate and Flip Image has an Extra angle setting. Choose Do not turn if the image is already upright, because its opening Turn setting is 90 degrees clockwise. Leave Mirror off for ordinary receipt text. Arbitrary-angle rotation resamples the image, and JPEG/WebP export can soften fine print, so check the edited copy at full size.

Compress only if the file size needs it

Skip another encoding step when the photos are already readable and small enough for the intended upload. If they are too large, Image Compressor can process up to 20 images with the same settings.

JPEG and WebP use lossy quality settings. Reduced-color PNG is also lossy; its default 256-color palette can change gray text and gradients. Full color avoids that additional palette reduction. Start conservatively and inspect thin digits and decimal points before accepting a smaller file.

Check the result status as well as its size. The compressor can return an unchanged original when that is the smaller suitable result, and that original can retain camera or location metadata. Its optional JPEG metadata-removal setting is a separate choice. Do not assume that every compression attempt creates a new, metadata-free image.

Build the pages in purchase order

Add the prepared images to Images to PDF. Use Up and Down to arrange them, keeping each long receipt's shots together. JPEG, PNG and WebP are accepted; convert other formats to a supported type first.

The tool accepts up to 40 images, 64 MiB per image, 128 MiB together and 40 megapixels per image. Each image becomes one PDF page. These limits apply to the build, even if the images were prepared in separate editing or compression runs.

Choose A4 or US Letter for consistent page dimensions and set a margin, such as 10 mm. The image fits proportionally inside that space. A small photo can be enlarged on the page, which does not create more detail. Fit the page to each image instead produces page dimensions based on each image's pixels, plus margins; use it only when varying page sizes are suitable.

JPEG bytes are normally embedded directly, except when an EXIF orientation transform requires normalization. The workflow does not promise a complete metadata scrub. Keep any separate privacy requirements in mind when choosing which source images to share.

Check an example against your own list

Suppose eight receipts each have one photo, and a ninth long receipt has three overlapping photos. That is eleven images and should produce eleven PDF pages.

Arrange them by date, with the three long-receipt shots in reading order. After creating the PDF, move through every page and compare it with the list. Confirm the amounts and dates are legible, the long receipt's overlaps are sensible, and no image was duplicated or omitted.

If a page is misplaced, Organize PDF Pages can reorder the rebuilt copy, subject to its 100 MiB and 200-page main-document limits. Correcting the image list before building is simpler when you still have it open. Keep the original photos and any paper documents the recipient asks you to retain.
