How to use Invoice and Receipt Extractor

  1. Choose one clear PNG, JPEG or WebP receipt or invoice image. Add Receipt context or a known Currency hint if needed; a hint does not prove what currency is printed.
  2. Select Extract receipt fields and complete browser verification when prompted. Compare Fields as read and every line item with the original image before relying on the totals.
  3. Review Server arithmetic checks. Differences are observed minus expected, and missing tax, discount or prices stay unknown rather than becoming zero. A matching calculation does not establish that the image was read correctly.
  4. Use Review and edit locally to correct supported fields. Keep a value unknown when the source cannot establish it, and check the local arithmetic again after changes.
  5. Download edited CSV for your reviewed browser values. The original Download CSV and Download JSON remain separate; the CSV includes a receipt summary row even when no line item was readable. Keep the source document for review.

Example: Invoice and Receipt Extractor

Read a small receipt with two line items.

You add
Choose a receipt showing one item at 12.00 and two items at 4.50, subtotal 21.00, tax 1.05 and total 22.05. Currency hint: USD.
You get
The draft contains two rows and the visible totals. Decimal checks compare quantities and prices; a missing discount remains unknown until you confirm it.

Options

Currency hint
Supply a known currency when the image uses an ambiguous symbol. The hint is context, not proof that a currency was printed.
Decimal checks
Money allows two decimal places and quantities three. Line products use half-up rounding to cents. Missing tax, discount or prices stay unknown.

Supported inputs and limits

  • One image up to 5 MiB and 12 megapixels; at most 20 line items.
  • Amounts and quantities range from zero to 1,000,000.
  • This version does not normalize credit notes, negative amounts, multi-page invoices or currencies needing more than two decimal places.
  • Image reading is fallible; arithmetic checks do not verify the source amounts.

Where your input is processed

Your input is uploaded to this site and sent to a configured AI provider. If a provider fails, the request may be sent to the next eligible provider. Check its result before use. Private inputs and results expire within one hour and are excluded from site backups; temporary files are removed by scheduled cleanup. Provider retention rules may differ. Avoid submitting passwords or highly sensitive information.

Separate reading errors from arithmetic differences

A total can add up correctly even when the image was read incorrectly. Check each quantity, unit price, discount and tax against the receipt before investigating a difference. Keep absent amounts unknown until you can confirm them. The edited CSV records your local corrections; retain the original document and the original AI output when you need a clear review trail.

Questions about Invoice and Receipt Extractor

Why does a total check say unknown?

A required component may be unreadable or absent. Missing tax or discount is not silently treated as zero. Confirm the value in the local editor only when the source supports it.

Does the CSV include header totals without items?

Yes. A receipt summary row preserves fields and totals even when no line item was readable. Item rows follow when available.

Can I send the export straight to accounting software?

Review its fields, date interpretation, currency and column mapping first. The output is a transcription draft rather than an approved accounting record.
