- There are thirteen styles. UPPERCASE and lowercase change letter case only, while Title Case, Sentence case and the programming styles rebuild the text word by word. Word-based styles split your text on spaces, punctuation and letter-case changes, so userProfileImage already contains the word boundaries. aLtErNaTiNg alternates case across letters, and iNVERSE cASE swaps the case of each letter individually.

How the word-based styles split your text
The programming and slug styles start by splitting your text into words. The split happens on spaces, punctuation and case changes, so userProfileImage becomes user, Profile and Image. Acronyms are handled too, so HTTPServer becomes HTTP and Server rather than one run of capitals. That is what makes camelCase and snake_case output predictable. It also explains why hyphens and underscores in your input disappear: they are treated as separators, not as characters to keep.

Which styles keep accented letters?
kebab-case keeps them. url-slug, snake_case, dot.case, camelCase and CONSTANT_CASE strip accents when they split your text into words, so café becomes cafe and résumé becomes resume. UPPERCASE and lowercase leave accents in place.
Why does Title Case capitalize small words like 'and' and 'the'?
The rule here is deliberately simple: the first letter of every word is capitalized. That suits headings and labels. If you follow a style guide that keeps short words lowercase, adjust those words after converting.
What is the difference between url-slug and kebab-case?
They produce the same hyphen layout, but url-slug strips accents while kebab-case keeps them. For addresses that must be plain ASCII, use url-slug.
How does Sentence case decide where a sentence starts?
It lowercases the whole text first, then capitalizes the first letter and the first letter after a period, question mark, exclamation mark or ellipsis. Abbreviations and quoted text often need a manual fix.
Does converting to camelCase keep my spaces?
No. camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, dot.case and CONSTANT_CASE all join your words without the original spaces or punctuation, because that is what those styles mean.
