How to use Function Graph Plotter

  1. Enter a supported real expression and increasing x/y bounds.
  2. Inspect the sampled graph and its undefined or clipped gaps.
  3. Download the SVG or CSV and account for the finite sampling limits.

Example: Function Graph Plotter

Function Graph Plotter: 501 real samples; 1 visible segments.

You add
Real expression in x: sin(x) x minimum: -6.28 x maximum: 6.28 y minimum: -2 y maximum: 2
You get
501 real samples; 1 visible segments. Undefined, clipped and large-jump samples break the line. Sampling can miss narrow features and discontinuities. -6.28 | 0.00318530179314 -5.652 | 0.590102104665 -5.024 | 0.951840878816

Options

Axis range
Choose x and y limits in the same units as your expression. The y range controls clipping rather than changing the function.
Sampled CSV
The export contains 501 evaluated x positions. Use those rows to inspect undefined or clipped samples.

Supported inputs and limits

The bounded grammar uses explicit multiplication and radians. X/y bounds are within ±1,000,000; the graph has 501 samples. Undefined, clipped and large-jump samples break paths. Narrow features and unsampled discontinuities can be missed; a connected segment is not proof of continuity.

A joined segment does not prove continuity

The plot breaks visible paths at detected undefined, clipped or large-jump samples. A discontinuity between sample positions can still be missed. Zooming the entered range can reveal features, but a sampled image cannot establish the exact behavior at every real point.

Questions about Function Graph Plotter

Why can part of a curve disappear?

A value may be undefined, outside the chosen y range or separated by the jump rule.

Can this prove that an expression is continuous?

No. A finite sampled plot cannot establish continuity.

What does the CSV contain?

It contains the 501 sampled x values and real y values; undefined sampled points have a blank y cell.
