How to use Math Image to LaTeX

  1. Choose one clear equation image and add Context only when it helps interpret the visible notation. This task transcribes rather than solves it.
  2. Select Transcribe equation and complete browser verification when prompted. Compare fractions, exponents, subscripts and grouping with the image before accepting the draft.
  3. Edit the notation under Review and edit locally, then select Render preview. The preview runs in your browser without another model call; rendering does not prove the source was transcribed correctly.
  4. Use Copy edited LaTeX or Download edited LaTeX for the reviewed expression. The edited download is LaTeX.txt containing the notation, while the original server downloads remain separate.

Example: Math Image to LaTeX

Preserve a fraction and exponent without solving it.

You add
Choose an image showing a fraction with x squared plus 3 above 2, equal to 11.
You get
The draft uses a fraction and an exponent in LaTeX. Its preview should reproduce the displayed grouping; it does not calculate a solution for x.

Options

Notation context
Mention an ambiguous letter or symbol only when you can confirm it. The tool transcribes the image rather than correcting a suspected mathematical error.
Local preview
Rendering happens on this site in your browser after you select the preview button. Editing and previewing run locally without a model call.

Supported inputs and limits

  • One image up to 5 MiB and 12 megapixels.
  • LaTeX allows 2,000 characters, one expression and a restricted command set.
  • User macros, environments, links, HTML and external resources are refused.
  • Dense pages, matrices and unfamiliar notation may need manual transcription.
  • A renderable expression can still misread the source.

Where your input is processed

Your input is uploaded to this site and sent to a configured AI provider. If a provider fails, the request may be sent to the next eligible provider. Check its result before use. Private inputs and results expire within one hour and are excluded from site backups; temporary files are removed by scheduled cleanup. Provider retention rules may differ. Avoid submitting passwords or highly sensitive information.

Compare the structure before individual symbols

Inspect fraction bars, parentheses and exponent positions first. A misplaced brace can change the meaning while leaving a valid-looking expression. Check similar symbols such as one and lowercase l, zero and uppercase O, or a minus sign and a fraction bar. Keep uncertainty visible until the source is clear, then use the local preview to inspect your correction without another model call.

Questions about Math Image to LaTeX

Will it solve the equation?

No. It transcribes visible notation. A solution would require a separate task and mathematical review.

Why can a LaTeX command be refused?

The preview accepts a bounded set of math commands. Simplify the expression or use your own trusted editor for notation outside that set.

Does a successful preview mean the math is correct?

It means the expression can be typeset. Compare signs, exponents, fraction grouping and subscripts with the image; rendering does not verify mathematical meaning.
