How to use Prime Factorization Calculator

  1. Enter a positive whole number within the supported range.
  2. Run the factorization.
  3. Read the distinct prime factors and their exponents.
  4. Check that their product equals your input.

Example: Prime Factorization Calculator

Factor a number with repeated primes.

You add
Integer: 360.
You get
The factors are 2^3 × 3^2 × 5, and their product is 360.

Supported inputs and limits

Positive integers from 1 to 999,999,999,999. BigInt arithmetic keeps the integer factors exact. Trial division is bounded and periodically yields so cancellation can be checked; visitor devices vary in speed. The number 1 has no prime factors. Negative, fractional and scientific-notation inputs are refused.

Questions about Prime Factorization Calculator

Is 1 prime?

No. Its factorization has no prime factors, and the tool states that explicitly.

Can I enter a decimal or negative value?

No. This page factors positive whole numbers only. Use the ordinary decimal integer spelling within its bound.

Why can a large prime take longer?

Trial division checks possible divisors up to the remaining square root. Large values with no small factor require more checks.
