Options
- Selection syntax
- Use the documented child names, array indexes, wildcards, slices or recursive named members. Filters, functions and script evaluation are outside this subset.
- Match paths
- Read each returned path alongside its value. Several equal values can come from different locations in the JSON document.
Supported inputs and limits
Where your input is processed
This tool processes your input in this browser. Your text and files are not uploaded to UseFreeTools. Check this tool's limits for anything it may save on your device.
An empty selection is a result
Check the spelling of property names, whether a node is an array and the actual indexes before changing the query. This tool selects data; it does not validate the document against a schema or rewrite it. Keep the path export when downstream work needs to distinguish identical values from different records.
Questions about JSONPath Query Tester
Why does a query fail instead of returning nothing?
Unsupported query syntax is refused; a supported query with no matches has an empty result.
Can I use JMESPath or filters?
No. This tool supports only the listed JSONPath selectors.
Is a missing property the same as null?
No. A missing property is not selected, while an existing null value can be a match.
