Filter and backdrop-filter affect different pixels

A filter changes the element’s rendering, including its contents. A backdrop filter changes pixels behind the element. Use the generated property that matches the part of your page you intend to change.

Questions about CSS Filter and Backdrop Filter Generator

Does filter order matter?

Yes. Each function receives the previous function’s result. The tool keeps one fixed order so the copied rule matches its preview.

Why is a backdrop filter hard to see?

It filters what is behind the element. An opaque background can hide the effect, and a flat backdrop may show little change.

Can I paste a filter URL?

No. External SVG filters and URLs are outside this tool’s supported settings.
